What are the six Story Mode factions in Brigandine Abyss?

The six Brigandine Abyss factions in Story Mode are protagonist nations — not cosmetic skins. Each route has its own Leader roster, scripted beats, and map neighbors. Official NIS copy groups them by fantasy theme; you fight Neo Abyssloa from a different cultural angle in every campaign.

Sub-factions inside each Story umbrella

Story nations are coalitions. Community maps and Japanese site notes tie Mission-style names to Story umbrellas — e.g. Gran Dragnica neighbors include Elgannacht and Arcus Air Caravan (also listed as Capital of Commerce in some materials); Scarlet Will touches Ragnallritter and Ebony Fang; Mysteine links Noblesse Exaltée and Graudi; Pandemyuon to Gnomonossos and Archacia; Samura Village to Shugen Clan. Exact ownership per chapter is TBA until walkthroughs confirm hex control.

Protagonist bios and unique Leader kits live on characters. Race-specific Rally habits: monsters and rally.

Which Mission Mode nations can I play?

Mission Mode is the classic Brigandine sandbox: choose any of 24 nations on Meltitea, each with its own Mission Objective (unify the continent, upgrade strongholds, collect items or monsters, gather allies, repay debt, defend a base, and other types NIS lists on the system page). Marketing states 25 countries exist on the continent and one is not selectable in Mission — that nation’s name is TBA in Western materials.

Below is the English roster pulled from this wiki’s verified list (18 names on file; remaining slots TBA until the full EN cast is confirmed in-game).

Victory types you will see

NIS America’s system page groups Mission wins into buckets: territorial unification, stronghold-focused, collection (items or monsters), diplomatic / ally gathering, economic (debt repayment), and defensive holds. The nation you pick changes which bucket matters — not the hex combat rules. Deep dive: mission mode.

How do Story and Mission factions relate on Meltitea?

Think of Meltitea as one continent with two lenses. Story Mode locks you into a protagonist nation’s scripted war against Neo Abyssloa — cutscenes, event battles, and chapters you cannot skip. Mission Mode lets you pilot any listed nation as if Brigandine never left the PS1 era: free invasion timing, custom win conditions, shorter faction vignettes.

Same map, different stakes

Reviews note Story factions may be immune to direct invasion until the script triggers an event battle — you cannot always cheese a neighbor early. Mission nations obey open sandboxes: if the hex is reachable and you have Command Points, you invade.

Units recruited in one mode do not carry to another; saves are separate slots (20 total) and you can alternate Story and Mission campaigns on the same profile once you understand Organization.

How should I pick a faction for your first campaign?

For your first Brigandine Abyss factions choice, bias toward Story Mode unless you already know Brigandine’s seasonal loop from Runersia or Forsena. The table below is a decision aid — not a tier list. Monster stats and Leader classes are still being cataloged (TBA on exact numbers).

Who are Neo Abyssloa and Chaossolus?

Not every Brigandine Abyss faction is playable. The returning Neo Abyssloa Empire (Japanese materials also write Abyssloa / New Abyssloa) is the continental threat all six Story routes oppose. Steam marketing and NIS lore state that two centuries ago archmage Lunadea forged the Brigandine armor to end the first Abyssloa Empire; when Neo Abyssloa rises, Meltitea’s nations mobilize again.

Chaossolus is the imperial figure previews name as the coup leader — a general who seized the Brigandine, killed the prior ruler, and rebuilt the empire. Hands-on coverage opens Scarlet Will with Garnet’s father dying to Chaossolus’s forces. Chaossolus appears in official soundtrack track listings as an endgame theme; treat Chaossolus troops as non-roster antagonists, separate from the 24 Mission picks.

Empire vs Mission “Brigande”

Do not confuse Brigande (Mission nation — “divine mountain” in JP notes) with the Brigandine relic or the Neo Abyssloa faction. Brigande is a playable Mission entry in our roster; the empire is the shared Story villain.

What should I read after choosing a faction?

Nation locked — run the campaign loop next. Open story mode if you picked a protagonist, or mission mode if you chose a sandbox nation. Combat habits (combat), Rally timing (rally), and Leader kits (characters) matter more than rerolling your banner. Return to beginner guide if Organization still feels like a black box.

FAQ

How many factions are in Brigandine Abyss?

Six Story protagonist nations plus 24 Mission nations. Antagonist blocs (Neo Abyssloa, Chaossolus) are not player picks.

Are Story and Mission factions the same roster?

No. Story uses six scripted protagonists. Mission reuses many sub-faction names (Elgannacht, Ebony Fang, etc.) as standalone playable nations with their own win conditions.

Which faction is best for beginners?

Gran Dragnica and Scarlet Will are commonly suggested first Story picks. Mission Mode is better after you understand Organization and Command Points — see the decision table above.

Why is my Mission nation count less than 24 in this list?

Western name verification is ongoing. This page lists every confirmed EN name from our data file and marks remaining slots TBA rather than guessing JP romanizations.

Is Purifanoe’s leader Alicebell or Alysbelle?

NIS America English materials use Alysbelle. Some Japanese romanizations read Alicebell — prefer Alysbelle on this EN wiki.

Can I play Neo Abyssloa or Chaossolus?

Not in launch materials. They function as Story antagonists. Mission Mode selects from the other nations on Meltitea.
