This Brigandine Abyss mission mode guide covers the sandbox half of Brigandine Abyss — 24 playable nations on Meltitea, each with its own victory condition, short story, starting forces, and map position. You still run the same Organization → Attack loop as Story Mode, but the win state is a checklist (unify, collect, repay debt, defend, and more), not a scripted Neo Abyssloa arc. What is Brigandine Abyss Mission Mode?

Brigandine Abyss mission mode is the replayable nation sandbox Adglobe and NIS America ship beside the six scripted Story campaigns. Where Story Mode locks you into a protagonist nation fighting Neo Abyssloa with cutscenes and event battles, Mission Mode hands you one of 24 factions and says: meet this nation's win condition on this slice of the Meltitea map.

The mechanical spine is unchanged. Every season you get an Organization Phase (quests, recruitment, shops, stronghold upgrades) and an Attack Phase (send up to three Leaders and their monster squads to invade a neighboring hex). Hex battles still end when you knock out the enemy Leader — the rest of that squad retreats. Rally, Class Change, Command Points, and affinity play exactly as in Story. What changes is the strategic objective on the world map and the short story framing each nation.

Official materials describe Mission entries as self-contained scenarios: unique starting position, starting forces, strategic situation, mission objective text, and victory condition. That makes Mission Mode the long-tail content pool marketing cites for 200+ hours — not six reskins of the same conquest route.

Where Mission sits in the menu

From the title screen you can start or resume Story campaigns and Mission runs independently. There is no forced order — you can alternate between a Garnet Story save and an Elgannacht Mission save in the same week. New players should still read the beginner guide first; Mission victory types assume you already quest idle Leaders and respect Command Point caps.

What are the seven Mission Mode victory conditions?

NIS America's system page groups Mission wins into seven families. A given nation maps to one primary condition (sometimes with sub-goals in the mission text). Learn the family before you pick a nation — it changes whether you should expand, turtle, farm quests, or rush diplomacy.

Victory typeWhat it asksOrganization habit
Unify the ContinentOwn or subjugate the map — classic conquestSteady invasion tempo; keep multiple Leaders leveled
Strengthen StrongholdsUpgrade bases to a target level or countHoard stronghold materials; defend owned hexes
Collect Designated ItemsDeliver specific quest or drop itemsQuest-heavy seasons; traveling merchant awareness
Collect MonstersRecruit or capture target monster typesMana for summons; exploration for rare races
Gather AlliesBring neutral or rival nations to your sidePick fights that open alliance flags, not total war
Repay DebtsPay down a gold or resource debt under pressureIncome quests; avoid expensive promotions early
Defend StrongholdsSurvive waves or hold key bases for N seasonsGarrison bench Leaders; stronghold upgrades on choke points

Unify the Continent

The Brigandine tradition: paint the map your color. In Brigandine Abyss this still means Leader-focused hex battles and three-squad invasions, but Mission unify runs may start mid-map with neighbors already hostile. Budget seasons for healing and revives — launch-week reviews note revival items restock each season, yet a stalled unify run bleeds tempo.

Collect and gather types

Collect Designated Items and Collect Monsters flip the priority from border expansion to checklist completion. You will invade only when a base blocks a recruit pool or a quest gate, not because conquest is the win state. Gather Allies adds diplomatic pacing: some routes want you to avoid wiping a future ally's Leader on turn one.

Economic and defensive types

Repay Debts is the clock race — Organization income and quest rewards matter more than flashy Class Changes. Defend Strongholds and Strengthen Strongholds reward players who read the stronghold upgrade matrix on factions and keep unused Leaders on exploration when not repelling invasions.

Which 24 nations can I play in Mission Mode?

Meltitea hosts roughly 25 countries in lore and on the strategic map. Mission Mode lists 24 — one nation is present in the world but not on the Mission selectable roster (official copy does not name it in the launch manual; treat it as story-only or empire-adjacent territory until datamined). The six Story protagonists' home nations are also Mission entries, but Mission gives them a different objective than their campaign plot.

Story nations inside Mission

Gran Dragnica (Largo), Scarlet Will (Garnet), Mysteine (Zeilzarde), Purifanoe (Alysbelle), Samura Village (Saya), and Pandemyuon (TYPE-F) appear in both modes. Story Mode is their narrative arc against Neo Abyssloa; Mission Mode is a what-if scenario with a standalone objective. Character bios live on characters.

Mission-exclusive factions

The other 18 entries — from Elgannacht and Ragnallritter through Brigande — extend the roster with mercenary companies, merchant leagues, and regional powers named on the official character site. English localization sometimes aliases a nation (e.g. Capital of Commerce vs Arcus Air Caravan); use the in-game banner name as source of truth.

How does Mission Mode differ from Story Mode?

Both modes share the Brigandine Abyss war-sim loop. The differences are narrative framing, fail states, and win tracking.

Combat and systems parity

Leaders still field up to five monsters subject to Command Points. Promotions can raise monster cost. Rally traits still matter on cramped maps — see rally and combat. Mission does not remove hex height, affinity, or Leader-KO retreat rules.

When to switch modes

Clear at least one Story campaign if you struggle with Organization budgeting. Jump into Mission early if you already know Brigandine from *Runersia* or *Legend of Forsena* and want variety. Debt and defend missions are brutal first picks; unify or collect missions teach the map without alliance timers.

How do save slots work between Story and Mission?

Brigandine Abyss ships 20 save slots on console and PC listings. Official Mission copy states you may run multiple Story and Mission campaigns in parallel — swap from slot to slot without finishing the previous nation.

  • Do01Use separate slots per nation so you do not overwrite a 40-hour Story run.
  • Do02Label mentally: Story slots for narrative, Mission slots for victory-type experiments.
  • Do03Demo saves (Steam pre-launch) generally do not carry — treat the demo as a loop sampler only.
  • Do04Before a debt or defend mission, confirm you are on the intended slot; those modes punish mistaken loads.
  • Do05You can pause a unify run mid-map and start a collect-monsters nation on another slot the same evening.

Juggling without burnout

Twenty slots sounds generous until you have six Story protagonists plus a dozen Mission experiments. The lazy senior approach: one active Story, one active Mission, everything else archived or deleted. Mission Mode's variety comes from finishing win types, not from hoarding ten half-unified maps.

How should I pick my first Mission nation?

There is no official difficulty tier list at launch. Use victory family and map position as your filter — not faction color.

First Mission recommendations

If you finished story mode as Garnet or Largo, replay their nation in Mission with a non-unify objective to learn checklist wins. If you are Mission-first, pick a Collect Designated Items or Collect Monsters nation so Organization quests stay mandatory — that mirrors good Story habits.

Avoid Repay Debts and Defend Strongholds until you understand income per season and bench Leader garrisons. Gather Allies rewards patience; do not auto-invade every neutral neighbor.

Pair with wiki pages

Nation themes and sub-faction ties are summarized on factions. Monster pools for collect runs live on monsters. Class Change timing for promoted squads: classes.

What should I read after this Mission Mode guide?

Lock a nation on factions, read your protagonist on characters if you picked a Story nation, then drill combat for Leader-KO habits and tips for Organization QoL. Returning to Story? story mode lists event-battle warnings Story-only players need.

FAQ

How many nations are in Brigandine Abyss Mission Mode?

24 selectable nations, each with a unique victory condition and short story. Meltitea has about 25 countries total; one is not on the Mission list.

What are the Mission Mode victory conditions?

Official types: Unify the Continent, Strengthen Strongholds, Collect Designated Items, Collect Monsters, Gather Allies, Repay Debts, and Defend Strongholds.

Do I need to finish Story Mode before Mission Mode?

No — modes are independent. Story is strongly recommended first because it teaches Organization and event battles without a debt timer.

How many save files can I use?

20 slots. You can juggle multiple Story and Mission campaigns; official text explicitly allows parallel runs.

Are Mission nations the same as Story factions?

The six Story homes (Gran Dragnica, Scarlet Will, Mysteine, Purifanoe, Samura Village, Pandemyuon) are playable in Mission with different objectives. The other 18 Mission entries add nations outside the main plot.

Where is the beginner loop explained?

Start with the beginner guide for season one Organization and Leader-KO combat.
